CHINESE MEDICINE
Dating to over 10,000 years ago, ancient Chinese medicine has been practiced by numerous civilizations all over the world. Encompassing acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, qi gong, and tai-chi, traditional Chinese medicine provides more than just treatment for various aches and pains. While Western medicine views the human body as a machine, Chinese medicine focuses on the balance, harmony, and energy flowing within. The secret lies in Qi, or the life energy that flows through all people, all the time. Qi has two characteristics known as Yin and Yang. When the balance or flow between the two is upset, it can lead to headaches, pains, and many other ailments. Traditional Chinese medicine seeks to correct these issues by fixing and maintaining a proper flow and balance of your Qi. As a result, the benefits of acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can be utilized even if you don't necessarily have problems and sessions are encouraged to help keep your body in excellent condition.
ACUPUNCTURE
The practice of acupuncture is an essential part of Chinese medicine and can be traced back over 2,500 years. By stimulating different points on the body, acupuncture corrects your flow of chi, easing various pains and ailments from headaches all the way to arthritis.
GUA-SHA
Gua-sha is a natural alternative therapy that involves scraping your skin with a massage tool to improve you circulation. This ancient Chinese technique offers a unique approach to better health, addressing such issues like chronic pain and headaches.
CUPPING
Previously used by ancient China and Egypt, cupping therapy is another form of medicine in which special cups are placed over key points on your body to create suction. This helps with back pains, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation, and also acts as a form of deep tissue massage.
MOXIBUSTION
By warming meridian points on the body through the use of burning dried mugwort, moxibustion serves to facilitate a smoother flow of blood and qi. Energize yourself and your body with this traditional Chinese medicinal practice.

I never thought acupuncture was something I would be interested in. While on vacation in Florida, I read an interesting article about the benefits of acupuncture. My sister became a client of Hickory Acupuncture and received excellent results. I have been a client of Bridgette Barker, Hickory Acupuncture, for over four years.
After my first treatment with Bridgette, I noticed immediate improvements. She has helped me so much with soreness, stiffness, and knee pain. I try to get a treatment every month.
Bridgette is most knowledgeable and caring. She researches best practices for issues I may have. She treats me like family.
I am truly grateful and blessed to be able to get a monthly acupuncture treatment
at Hickory Acupuncture by Bridgette Barker.

I have been treated by Bridgette Barker for a little over 6 years. I have stage 3 kidney disease and Bridgette’s treatment has helped keep my kidneys stable. I also have a serious back, upper and lower, injury because of my kidney disease. I do not take any pain medicine, acupuncture has done wonders for the pain. With the back injury my right leg suffered serious numbness which was traveling to the upper and lower inside of leg, but acupuncture has gotten rid of the numbness and is still improving. Bridgette also treated varicose veins and gallbladder stones which caused a lot of pain and now the pain is gone. Bridgette is caring and very respectful of my feelings and concerns and is very gentle and nurturing in her treatments, she has helped me so much. I take no western medicine and I am 66 years old. Its never too late to regain your health.

I have been a patient of Bridgette's for over 3 years, encouraged by my chiropractor and 2 family members (niece + daughter) to come see her. I have had many health issues which most of you have had over the years. The most recent affecting my eyesight which she is currently working on. I don’t always understand her different placement of the needles but it WORKS as my aches, pain, soreness, and stiffness have all decreased. I encourage you to give her a try.

Bridgette Barker, more than an acupuncturist, a true healer. Professional, highly educated, experienced, and genuine. Her services provide a non intrusive opportunity to restore your health and well being. My onset of negative symptoms was a significantly longer process than my healing. My only regret is that I did not find her sooner! Thank you Bridgette!
